The first snips....
Do you remember when you first learned to use scissors? Maybe you can recall a slightly questionable haircut moment—especially the fringe that ended up as the main “victim”—followed by a rushed trip to the hairdresser to save the day. Or maybe like me, it's an everyday action that you never even think about.
But here’s the thing: cutting isn’t just a casual everyday action. It’s an important developmental skill that often gets overlooked.
We came across a brilliant travel-friendly activity kit that makes practising this skill both fun and practical. Even better—it’s designed to go wherever you go. You can pack it for holidays, weekend outings, long car rides, or a visit to Grandma's house.

From there, the creativity really takes off: a butterfly comes to life, a snake is assembled, a hedgehog becomes a new little friend, and a fish pond scene unfolds…... we will keep the rest of the activity pack a secret for you to discovered. To finish each project, adorable stickers are hidden at the back of the activity pad—adding that final touch to every creation.
This wasn’t the first Colour Me Activity set I’ve bought for my shop, but when this one arrived, I was genuinely impressed. The colours are bright and appealing, the illustrations are absolutely adorable, and the layout feels fun and inviting for little learners. In fact, some moms and dads might find it hard to resist grabbing the scissors and joining in on the cutting fun themselves!

We’d recommend this kit for children from about 4 years old with adult supervision. Many children from around 6 years and up, can enjoy the activities more independently, proudly showing off what they’ve made. It’s also a great way to build confidence, improve fine motor skills, and gently introduce the habit of following instructions from start to finish.
The only downside I noticed was that the pages tear out very easily. While flipping through the book to explore the activities, I accidentally removed more than one page without meaning to. It’s not a major issue — the pages are likely designed this way since the main focus is cutting activities — but it does mean you can quickly end up with loose pages everywhere if you’re not careful.
If you’re building up a collection of on-the-go activities, Colour Me has plenty of other travel-friendly sets for keeping little hands busy and minds engaged—especially on those “are we there yet?” kind of days.
